PAFSS Gaseous Fire Suppression

Pneumatically Actuated Fire Suppression System

IEE-Testing

What is PAFSS?

The PAFSS or Pneumatically Actuated Fire Suppression System is an exceptionally versatile fire suppression range, with a huge range of extinguishing technologies available. As a result, this makes it suitable for almost any type of fire risk.

Available extinguishing agents include:

  • Novec 1230 (Clean agent for servers and electrical cabinets)
  • CO2 (Ideal for CNC machinery)
  • Foam
  • Powder

PAFSS requires no external power supply, which makes it very fail-safe. It is activated when the pressurized detection tubing is ruptured by the heat of a fire. This allows the pressure contained in the tube to escape. This then releases the valve on the extinguishant cylinders, activating the suppression system.

The activation of the PAFSS can trigger a range of other actions by using a pressure activated electrical switch. This includes the shutdown of associated machinery, activation of an external alarm system or the activation of a standalone sounder/flashing beacon. This helps to ensure that other persons are immediately alerted to the danger. Also, damage to any affected machinery is minimized as much as possible due to its prompt shutdown.

Pneumatically Actuated Fire Suppression System (PAFSS) are made in the UK to exacting standards.
